Another box. This one is just work files, as I pack up my little, upstairs, home office ready for next week’s move.
It’s been hard to decide which of the accumulated possessions of four people who have lived together in a fairly large house for over 20 years might be needed by one person, living alone, in a small one; hard to work out what to do with the rest: sell on ebay, take to the charity shop or the recycling, or, as a last resort, throw in the rapidly-filling skip outside the house.
What I can’t get my head around is why there is so much stuff here after three of those people were supposed to have moved out some time ago!
It’s not fun, each released object a reminder of the change and contraction my life is going through. It’s meant to be exciting, this move from the old life to the new, and I occasionally glimpse that excitement but it hasn’t taken root.
Right now I will happy just to get to Christmas, hopefully in the right place and with the right stuff.
Then I’ll be able to take stock for a bit……
before starting on my Dad’s house!
More Sunday sin here:
Deciding what to keep and what to get rid of is a really tough one, especially when there is sentimental value involved!
On the other hand, it can be quite cathartic and empowering when you leave stuff behind and make a fresh start – try and embrace it if you can. Easier said than done!!
All the best
Peter
Sorting out and moving forward is so hard, even more so after the year we’ve had. You will get through this and I know you will have so much positivity to come in the future.
I know how hard this has all been for you. If I think about doing it myself it fills me with dread at how big a task it would be. But I also know that despite all that this will be a new beginning for you…. and new adventures to go with it too I hope

Sending you love and looking forward to seeing you flourish in what comes next. Oh, and I have some things that need a real good sorting – can I persuade you to lend me a hand? Xx

Sending you love, B1 – I hope all settles and you find peace and happiness in your new home x
Let’s hope some of the weight of the last few years can be released with everything you pass on or throw out. Sending calming thoughts for your move.

Wishing you peaceful respite and release … and a contented Christmas.
And new, fulfilling beginnings for the new year !!!
